Evictees from Southern region sleeping in AEUP's Addis Premises

25 March 2012
Ethiopians, who have been resettled to Bench Maji Zone of Gura Farda Wereda, Southern Ethiopia 12 years ago through the government’s resettlement program from various regions of Amhara Region are now being evicted by force from their decade old settlement by the Regional Ammonisation of Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region (SNNPR).

Over 70 evictees, mainly from the Amhara ethnic group, are now sleeping in the premises of the All Ethiopian Unity Party (AEUP) Addis Abeba office, according to Ethiopatriots.com. The evictees stated that they have been forcefully thrown out from the land and property they legally owned for over a decade without any form of compensation or makeshift by the Southern regional Administration. The 70 evictee who now are living in the premises (with more to follow them), need an immediate assistance from all concerned bodies.
