Eng. Hailu interviewed

Chairman of All Ethiopian Unity Party, Engineer Hailu Shawel has been interviewed in one of the Party's support Forum in the Diaspora today (30 March 2012). He spoke of various issues on the current political situation in Ethiopia. Some of the points were :

• Speaking of ethinicism/race within Ethiopian schools he said "Even colleges give grades/marks based on ethnicities".
• On the persecution and forceful eviction  of the Amara ethnic members from southern Ethiopia, he said his party did its humanistic part/role of saving the souls of the displaced and their ethnicity was not taken into account and his party has members from all ethnic groups.(Of the thousands, mainly from the Amhara ethnic group, evicted from Southern part of Ethiopia  have been sleeping in the premises of the All Ethiopian Unity Party (AEUP) Addis Abeba office).
• The Engineer also said that the displaced didnot come right to AEUP's office but were rescued  from streets by his Party.
• He said that there is no single person from the displaced who is a member of his Party as it has no branch office in the Region.
• Regarding newspapers in Addis Abeba, he said there are around 20 papers but wonders who they are funded by and what they are actually doing.
• The political struggle in Ethiopia has not began yet, he added.
• He sought two things from the Diaspoa: The Diaspora to be coordinated and focus on the diplomatic aspect and also assist finanicaly.
• Before he finished, Engineer Hailu made an important note : He said " the time has come, people have began speaking out so assist us now." (ጊዜው ደርሷል: ህዝቡ መናገር ጀምሯል ስለዚህ አናንተም ተባበሩን።)
