Months before Ethiopian PM Meles' death, three top officials of the regime and member party of the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front  (EPRDF'), the "Amara" ,  Amara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) were in the U.S. meeting Ethiopians living in various States of America. The officials were Kassa Tekeleberihan Gebrehiwot, President of the Ethiopian House of Federation and Central Committee member of ANDM,  Helawi Yosef, Ethiopian Ambassador to Israel and CC member of ANDM and Demeke Mekonen, Deputy PM of Ethiopia, CC member of ANDM and Minister of Education. The three leaders had perhaps gone through one of the excruciating moments of their life since assuming public office. Faced with little or no opposition and demand in their home country, the officials were faced with hard talk and critical questions from Ethiopians living in the U.S. to the point when the officials were unable to lead and conduct the session. Most of the participants grilled the leaders for "giving huge chunk of Ethiopian land from Gonder to Sudan in exchange for not hosting Ethiopian rebels there" and other criticisms in relations to sovereignty and human rights abuses in Ethiopia. One of the series of footage being released is attached below:
