In an interview with the Amhara Mass Media Agency tonight the Amahra Region Police has confirmed that seven protesters have been killed today due to a clash between police and civilian protesters in Bahir Dar City. At least five police officers were also injured.
Ethiopia has been rocked by anti-government protests since November last year in Oromia and Amhara regions. Over five 600 protesters have so far been killed.
After the Oromo and Gonder prortests yesterday, Bahir Dar, 558km North of Addis Abeba, has protested today in the city. Despite total shutdown of internet and telecommunication in Ethiopia since yesterday, images and videos of the protests are appearing on social media.
