The Ethiopian government’s own Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), has presented its findings to the parliament from the recent Oromo Protests in Oromia region and identity related conflicts in Gonder.
The Commission said 173 people were killed in Oromia region and 956 suffered minor and major injuries.
While in Northern Gonder, Amhara region 97 people have died while 86 people sustained wounds due to identity related conflicts in the past few months.
After the reading of the reports, the parliament voted that government securities did not use excessive force to quell the protests and the conflicts, according to state television’s report.
However, the report stated the police used excessive force to quell the conflict in Gonder.
