Dr. Tebeje Molla, an Ethiopian scholar based in Australia, has said in response to recent debates about the identity of Raya people (Tigrean, Amhara or none of the two), Raya is not and does not belong to Tigrean ethnic group.
He gave the Radio response after the Ethiopian regime’s Ambassador to Australia, Mrs. Tirfu Gebrekidan, said Raya belongs to Tigre region.
Dr. Tebeje gave historical and legal evidences reasoning why Raya could not be belong to Tigre region “If Raya has to describe itself in a lesser entity than Ethiopia, then Raya is not Tigre but Raya.”
