This lady only goes by her Christian name of Ehete Mariam (The Virgin Mary’s Sister). She became popular on Ethiopian social media after a video footage of her speaking to a crowd of hundreds of Ethiopian Ortodox Tewahdo Christian worshipers in her house predicting what was going to happen in Ethiopia surfaced.
The video first appeared on Youtube in July 2017.
She said she was living in London, UK for a number of years. She is a mother of four. However, the Virgin Mary started communicating with her through dreams and visions. She says the Virgin Mary had asked her to sell her house in the UK and go back to Ethiopia.
In the 1 hour 23 minute video clip uploaded by different Youtube users, which has been viewed over hundreds of thousands time, Ehete Mariam narrates about her journey returning from the UK to Ethiopia and predicts what would happen in Ethiopia.
The majority of the comments by people who watched the video on Youtube and Facebook depending on their religions inclinations and sects, either ridiculed her or thanked her.
One of her words that got her ridiculed was when she said “The Virgin Mary has said to the tycoon Mohammed Ali Al Amoudi, if you do not leave my country as soon, I will knock out your teeth.” Many wondered if the woman was really sane.
But in the same video she made to main prophesies, she said she was told by Mother Mary to tell:
- Ethiopian-Saudi Billionaire Mohammed Ali Al Amoudi to leave Ethiopia as soon as possible or face dire consequences.
- That prisoners will be released. She said she will go to Kaliti Prison, where scores of political and religious prisoners as well as prisoners of conscience are held on Tuesday, 1st August 2017 following the footsteps of the Virgin Mary and will only say “open the door.” She warns those who have been depending on the current Ethiopian government and have been spying on their communities, the government linked business people, and those who own weapons to “repent.”
These two prophesies of her are now true. On November 6, 2017, the once untouchable billionaire, few months after Ehete Mariam’s speech, was detained along with several Saudi princes and billionaires in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has recently been transferred into a maximum security jail in the same country.
Secondly, a few weeks ago the Ethiopian ruling Front has announced that it was releasing political prisoners in Ethiopia for the sake of “national reconciliation.” Over one hundred political prisoners, including opposition leader Dr. Merara Gudina, have been released yesterday. According to the regime, this is the first phase of the release and more prisoners of conscience will be released.
In the video, she says the Virgin Mary had sent her to deliver a message to Abune Mathias the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church last year, when she came from the UK. Although she was able to enter the Patriarch’s office, she was denied an audience with him hence delivering a written message. In the video she says Abune Mathias is a “member of the the Satanic faith. He has been given a warning by Mother Mary.” She says She has asked Abune Mathias to leave. She accuses Ethiopian Orthodox Bishops of cooperating with what she calls a “monster regime.” She says the incumbent government is a “monster.” The audience claps. It sounds as if she was linking the regime and the Abune to the alleged Illuminati system.
She bravely says she will delete the signs on the current Ethiopian flag and replace it with what will be Ethiopia’s new flag. She says the star (pentagram) on the flag is a satanic symbol. Many people have been detained for saying this but she says “I am not scared, I know who I am with.” She says she will even go to the parliament and the palace with the Mother of God. She advises the public that this monstrous regime won’t fall down through the use of arms or violence because there are also other highly armed countries such as the UK, US and China to help it but kneels “only with one God, one baptism and one religion.”
She said she was accused of being a witch by Ethiopian clergy in the UK.
No new video of her has so far appeared and we do not know about her present condition.
Several Ethiopian elders, clergies and people who claim to have seen visions are all predicting that the EPRDF ruled government of Ethiopia is in its final days.
Should we take them serious?

In February 2018, Ehete Mariam released more than three new video clips that contain messages to Ethiopians and the government. On January 29, 2018 she said she has been told by the Virgin Mary to tell the government of Ethiopia to leave.
On February 17, 2018 another video of her appeared again, when she addressed the Ethiopian Defence Forces and the police. She said although the government was told “it was enough”, it has not yet stepped down. The government depends on the security forces. The security forces are ordered to side with nobody but with Mother Mary, she said. “The Lord is taking away your weapons, your marriage and children” she warned. The video follows…
