Yu Chieh Liao, 24, Tewodros Mutugeta Kebede, 25.
Police have arrested two people considered persons of interest in connection with the horrific slayings of four people, including three found in a burned vehicle in a northwest Calgary neighbourhood.
In a news release, Calgary police said Yu Chieh Liao, who goes by Diana Liao, was arrested at approximately 7 p.m. in Toronto on Thursday.
Tewodros Mutugeta Kebede, 25, was arrested in Toronto Tuesday on unrelated matters, according to a separate news release.
On May 27, Kebede was charged with two counts of uttering a forged document, according to a search of his record in Alberta.
Investigators believe he was travelling with Liao, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for fraud.
On July 10, the bodies of Glynnis Fox, 36, Cody Pfeiffer, 25, and Tiffany Ear, 39, were found in a burning vehicle in Sage Hill. Hanock Afowerk, 26, was found dead near Highway 22 and Highway 8 on July 12.
Police have linked Liao to a rental vehicle used in the crime at Sage Hill, and believe that she and Afowerk knew each other.
Investigators believe multiple people may be involved and continue to search for additional crime scenes.
“Due to the investigative sensitivities around this case, we are unable to provide additional comment,” said Calgary Homicide Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta earlier on Thursday.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police.
