Chinese Defense Minister and Ethiopian Defense Ministers Hold Meeting in China

BEIJING, Feb. 24 (ChinaMil) — Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Ethiopian Defense Minister Siraj Fegessa in Beijing on February 23.

General Chang said that both China and Ethiopia are countries with time-honored ancient civilization, in recent years, promoted by the leaders of the two countries, China and Ethiopia have witnessed fast development of bilateral relations, continuous enhancement of political mutual trust and constantly-deepening exchange and cooperation, becoming a model of China-Africa cooperation.

The military-to-military relations between China and Ethiopia have been increasingly deepened as evidenced by frequent exchange of high-level visits and fruitful cooperation in such fields as personnel training, peacekeeping and military medical science, he added.

The Chinese PLA attaches importance to the traditional friendship with the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) and is willing to make joint efforts with the ENDF to constantly develop and deepen the pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries in various fields, Chang said.

Siraj Fegessa said that as part of the Ethiopia-China friendly relations covering various , the friendly cooperative relations between the two militaries have also been constantly consolidated. Ethiopia is grateful for the long-term support and assistance China has provided to its military construction and hopes to further deepen the cooperation and promote the relations between the two militaries, he added.
