Renowned cardiologist Fikru Maru speaks about torture in prison

Dr. Fikru Maru walks in the Lideta Court premises, Addis Abeba accompanied by armed soldiers. Swedish-Ethiopian renowned cardiologist, with 40 plus years of specialist experience, Fikru has been detained for over three years by Ethiopian authorities for an alleged 3000 Birr ($140) fraud. He is now facing another charge of leading a rebellion and a fire incident inside the Kilinto prison where he has been held since the initial charge. Maru said he was severely beaten by prosecutors and investigators, denied access to food and visitors.
