Ethiopian Exorcist Priest Memhir Girma Wondimu released after three months

Famous Ethiopian Orthodox Exorcist Priest Memhir Girma Wondimu has been released today after remaining in police custody since October 28, 2015 in Addis Abeba.

He was released on bail.

Photos on social media pages linked with the priest showed Memhir Girma joined by his fans and supporters in his house in Addis Abeba.

Famous Ethiopian Orthodox Priest Memhir Girma Wondimu has been detained by Ethiopia police today days after he returned from his exorcism service in Australia, according to Radio Fana, a radio station owned by the ruling Front, EPRDF.

The Radio Station also reported that Memhri Girma had been denied the right of exoticism or baptism representing the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church anywhere in the world.

The Station said  according to its sources the priest is going to be ” suspected of crimes in relation to his services.”

Fana did not provide further details about the charge or the detention.

Popular among the faithfuls of the Ethiopian Ortodox Church the Priest has so far released a several video CDs and Youtube videos showing the exorcism and healing of thousands of people, who suffer from various types of ailments.

Memehir Girma Wondimu was born in 1958 in Bale, Ethiopia and was was ordained as a deacon by Abune Mekariosat the St.Michael Church in 1969. The priest has been a center of controversy between those who regard his service as official and Godly and those that question it.

After many years of service in Ethiopia, invited by the Ethiopian Christian communities in the Diaspora, Memhir Girma offered his services in Europe, Canada and Australia.

His video releases often show Ethiopian, Eritrean and Western patients being healed momentarily as he baptizes and prays on them.
