The Kaliti Prisons Administration has today said that it can not allow Journalist Eskinder Nega, who is serving an 18 years sentence, before the court to be a defense witness against De Birhan’s co-blogger Zelalem Workagegenhu.
The Prison Officials sent a letter to the Lideta Court today that stating they can not present Eskinder because “he has been sentenced to 18 tears imprisonment and he has never left the prison to be a defense witness so far”, therefore they cannot bring him to the Court to act as a defense witness of our co-blogger Zelalem Workagegnehu.

የቃሊቲ ማረሚያ ቤት በእነ ዘላለም ወርቃገኘሁ የክስ መዝገብ በመከላከያ ምስክርነት የተጠቀሰውን ጋዜጠኛ እስክንድር ነጋ በምስክርነት እንደማያቀርበው ለልደታ ከፍተኛ ፍርድ ቤት በደብዳቤ አሳውቋል፡፡ ማረሚያ ቤቱ ታህሳስ 4/2008 ዓ.ም ለልደታ ፍርድ ቤት በላከው ደብዳቤ ጋዜጠኛ እስክንድር ነጋ ‹‹የ18 አመት ፅኑ እስራት የተፈረደበት በመሆኑና ከአሁን ቀደም ምስክር ሆኖ ከማረሚያ ቤቱ ወጥቶ መስክሮ ስለማያውቅ ለመስክርነት ለማቅረብ እንቸገራለን›› ብሏል፡፡
እስክንድር ነጋ ለእነ ዘላለም ወርቃገኘው በመከላከያ ምስክርነት ከተቆጠረ በኋላ ከህዳር 13 /2008 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ ለአራት ቀጠሮዎች በምስክርነት ሳይቀር የቀረ ሲሆን ዛሬ ታህሳስ 6/2008 ዓ.ም ማረሚያ ቤቱ በላከው ደብዳቤ መሰረት ሳይቀርብ ቀርቷል፡፡ ከአንድ አመት በፊት ከ6 ሰዓት እስከ 6 ሰዓት ተኩል ለ30 ደቂቃ ሲጠየቅ የነበረው እስክንድር ነጋ በአሁኑ ወቅት እንዳይጠየቅ ተከልክሏል፡፡ በተጨማሪም ማረሚያ ቤቱ በተደጋጋሚ እስክንድር ነጋ የታሰረበትን ክፍል በመፈተሽ መፅሃፍ ቅዱስን ሳይቀር መነጠቁም ይታወሳል፡፡
