Africa’s youth are key forces of sustainable development. Indeed, both the African Union’s (AU) Agenda 2063 and United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development identify youth as key partners of sustainable development, though the youth empowerment agenda is often set aside as part of the social inclusion agenda rather than the structural transformation one. Two of the region’s megatrends, urbanization and demographic transition, call for a paradigm shift toward youth-centered sustainable development. First, Africa is quickly urbanizing, primarily due to natural population increase in cities and peri-urban areas. Second, its youth constitute a large share of the continent’s population, with 43 percent of the African population aged under 14 years old (World Development Indicators, 2016). Africa must prepare itself for reaping the socio-economic benefits of its demographic dividend and leverage forces of urbanization to deliver the much-needed job creation and structural transformation of African economies.

The demographic trends above present both opportunities and challenges for Africa’s policymakers and development partners. On the one hand, the ample supply of a youthful population presents Africa with a dynamic, collaborative, flexible, and forward-looking labor force, which is the premise of Africa’s demographic gift. At the same time, urbanization has immense potential to be a catalyst of youth empowerment and structural transformation efforts. If ill managed, on the other hand, the combined forces of youth unemployment and growing urban inequalities and poverty threaten social development in Africa, making youth more susceptible to social ills such as crime and terrorism, as well as spurring the exodus of Africa’s youth to the Middle East and Europe, risking their lives in search of better economic opportunities.

Globally, nations expressed their commitments to readdress the way they plan, manage, and finance urbanization at the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in October 2016 in Quito, Ecuador. The African Urban Agenda program (AUA)^[1] aims to address Africa-specific urbanization challenges and seize the opportunities urbanization, the demographic dividend, and regional integration bring to realize the aspirations of Agenda 2063; the SDG on sustainable human settlement (Goal 11), and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA).

To discuss these challenges and ways forward, high-level African policymakers, urban experts, representatives from the private sector, youth, and academia gathered at the UN expert group meeting on “The New Urban Agenda and Demographic Dividend: Investments for Africa’s Youth,” in Dakar, Senegal, in March 2017. Participants unanimously agreed that these two trends can be dealt with in tandem by mainstreaming a youth empowerment agenda into various structural transformation and sustainable urban development agendas.

This very cute black lady is a rising star. Yes a rising dark diamond in the sky and in cinemas. Jade Eshete is building her name for her acting in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016), Bruce!!! (2017) and Ache (2017).

Her dad’s name sounds Ethiopian right? Yes. Her father is an Ethiopia and her mom is from the Caribbean, Guyanese. She was born in Brooklyn, New York.

By training, she is a structural engineer.

She also does modelling. Appeared in big brands such as  L’Oreal Paris, Essence Magazine, and Dark & Lovely. 

In Dirk, Jade Eshete acts as Farah Black. Farah is an efficient and tough security officer with OCD. After her millionaire boss is killed and his daughter kidnapped, Farah is determined to solve the case alongside Dirk and Todd. She makes every attempt to keep the group safe, even if she herself isn’t so sure she’s capable of doing so.

የኢህአዴግ ስብሰባ 

ህወሀት አድብቷል። አንገቱን የሰበረ መስሏል። ሆደ ቡቡ ሆኗል። መሪዎቹ በየምክንያቱ ያለቅሳሉ። ”እንዲህ መሆናችንን አናውቅም ነበር—ለካንስ በድለናችኋል” ይላሉ በየዕረፍት ሰዓቱ። በኢሳት እጅ የገባው ግርድፍ መረጃ ላይ እንደተመለከተው፡ ህወሀት በመከላከያ ሰራዊቱ የአዛዥነት ቁልፍ ቦታዎችን ሊያካፍል ተሰማምቷል። በደህንነት መስሪያ ቤቱ ውስጥ የሚገኙ የተወሰኑ የሃላፊነት ወንበሮችን ለመልቀቅ ቃል ገብቷል። በርስትነት ይዞአቸው የቆያቸውንና በሌሎች በፌደራል ደረጃ የሚገኙ ወሳኝ የሚኒስትር መስሪያ ቤቶችን ለአባል ፓርቲዎች በኮታ ሊያከፋፍል ፍቃደኝነቱን አሳይቷል።

ህወሀት አዜብ መስፍንን ለእርድ እንዳቀረባትም ተሰምቷል። አባይ ጸሀዬን ወንጀል ካለበት በህግ ልትጠይቁት ትችላላችሁ ብሎ አሳልፎ ሊሰጥ መስማማቱ ይነገራል። ጄነራሉቹ ገንዘብ የሚዘርፉበትን ሜቴክ የተሰኘውን የደም ተቋም ከፈለጋችሁ እንዲመረመር ማድረግ ትችላላችሁ ብሏል። የወልቃይት ጉዳይ ተነስቶ ”የመሬት ረሃብ ውስጥ” እንደነበረ አመኗል። የመስፋፋት ህልሙን ለማሳካት በመሬት ዘረፋ ውስጥ መግባቱ ከብአዴን ሲነገረው አልተቃወመም። ኦህዴድም እስከዶቃ ማሰሪያው ነግሮታል። በጥቅሉ እየተካሄደ ባለው የኢህአዴግ የስራ አስፈጻሚ ስብሰባ ላይ ህወሀት እጅ የሰጠ መስሎ ቀርቧል። ተደፍሯል። የማይነካ የሚመስለው ድንበሩ ተጥሷል። አጥሩ ተነቅንቋል።

እንደሰማነው ሃይለማርያምም ወግ ደርሶት ”ከዚህ በኋላ አልቀጥልም” ብሏል። ህውሀት ከኦህዴድና ብአዴን የመጣበትን ጭነት ለመሸከም የሃይለማርያምን ትከሻ መተማመን አልቻለም። የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትርነቱን ቦታ ለአማራና ኦሮሞ መስጠት ለህወሀት በራስ ላይ ሞትን የመጋበዝ ያህል አስፈርቶታል። በተለይ መሬት ላይ ካሉት የህወሀት ደጋፊዎችና አክራሪ አባላቱ ”ሁሉንም አስረከባችሁ–በደምና አጥንት የተገኘውን ቦታ አጨብጭባችሁ ሰጣችሁ” የሚለው እንደእቶን እሳት የሚያስፈራው ተቃውሞን የሚመክትበት አቅም የለውም። ቤተመንግስቱን ሃይለማርያም ይዞት እንዲቆይ እስከመጨረሻው ሊሟሟት ወስኗል። ከዚህ በኋላ የህወሀትን ሰው ከዚያ ቤተመንግስት ማስቀመጥ ቀለብ ከሚሰፍርሉት እነአሜሪካ ጭምር ውግዘት ስለሚገጥመው የትግራይ ተወላጅን ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ለማድረግ የሚሞክር አይመስልም። ሃይለማርያም የምሩን በቅቶት ከሆነና እስከመጨረሻው በአቋሙ ከጸና ለህወሀት እጅግ በጣም አጣብቂኝ ነው።

ህወሀት ልመና ላይ ነው። ”ህይወታችንም፡ ቀብራችንም አንድ ላይ ይሁን” እያለ በመማጸን ላይ ነው። ከህዝብ የመጣው ማዕበል ሁላችንንም ይውጠናል፡ የሚተርፍ የለም እያለ ማስፈራራቱን ተያይዞታል። ኦህዴድና ብአዴን በያዙት አቋም ስለመቀጠላቸው እርግጠኛ ሆኖ መናገር ባይቻልም እስከአሁን ባለው የስብሰባው ሂደት ለህወሀት ፊት አልሰጡትም። በተከላካይነት መስመር ላይ ገትረውት የ26 ዓመት የተጠራቀመ ሂሳብ እያወራረዱ መሆናቸው ይነገራል። በለማ የሚመራው የኦህዴድ ቡድን ለዘመናት በህወሀት የተደረበለትን የ’ጠባብነት’ ካባ አውልቆ ለደብረጺዮን አልብሶታል። ”ጠባቦችስ እናንተ ናችሁ” ብሏል ኦህዴድ። ብአዴን እያነከሰም ቢሆን የህወሀትን ክራንች ሊያስጥል ምልክት አሳይቷል። ገዱ ብቻውን አይደለም። እንደሚባለው ዶ/ር አምባቸው መኮንን፡ ተስፋዬ ጌታቸው አብረውት እየተጋፈጡ ነው። አቶ ብናልፍ አንዱዓለምና አቶ ይናገር ደሴ በአፋቸው ከህወሀት፡ በልባቸው ደግሞ ከገዱ ጋ መሆናቸውን ውስጥ አዋቂዎች ይናገራሉ። አቶ ዓለምነው መኮንን፡ ካሳ ተ/ብርሃንና ከበደ ጫኔ እስከመቃብር ድረስ ከህወሀት ጎን ላይለዩ ወስነዋል ይባላል። ደመቀ መኮንን አለየለትም። እንደልማዱ ከነፈሰው ጋር ይነፍሳል ተብሎ ይጠበቃል።

ይህን በውጥረትና በጭንቀት የተከበበውን ስብሰባ የድምጽ ብልጫ ይፈታዋል ብሎ የሚጠብቅ ካለ የዋህ ነው። እጅ ተቆጥሮ የበዛው አሸናፊ፡ ያነሰው ተሸናፊ ሆነው የሚወጡበት ስብሰባ አይደለም። አንዳንዶች 36ቱ የስራ አስፈጻሚ ኮሚቴ አባላት በሚሰጡት ድምጽ የዚህ ስብሰባ አሸናፊው ይወሰናል የሚል አስተያየት ሲሰጡ አያለሁ። በዚያ ስሌት ከሄድን ህወሀት አሸናፊ ሆኖ መውጣቱ የሚያጠራጥር አይደለም። ህወሀት የራሱን ዘጠኝ ድምጾች፡ የደኢህዴንን ዘጠኝ ጨምሮበት ከብአዴን በትንሹ የእነዓለምነውን ሶስት አክሎቦት ከኦህዴድ የሚንሸራተቱ ሁለት ድምጾችን አግኝቶ ከ20 በላይ አስቆጥሮ ሊያጠናቅቅ ይችላል። የሚሆነውም ይሄው ነው። ነገር ግን አሁን የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ የሚናፍቀው ለውጥ ከኢህአዴግ ስብሰባ የሚጠበቅ አይደለም። የእነለማ አሸናፊነት የሚገኘው ከጀርባቸው ከተሰለፈው ህዝብ ሃይል እንጂ ከኢህአዴግ ጽ/ቤት አይሆንም። የእነለማ ጉልበት የህዝብ ዕምቢተኝነት ነው። የእነገዱ አቅም የተቀጣጠለው አብዮት ነው። ህወሀት ይህቺን ዕውነት ያውቃታል። የህዝብን ልብ የካድሬ ድምጽ በማከማቸት የሚያገኘው እንዳልሆነ አይጠፋውም።

አሁንም ጥያቄዎች ይነሳሉ። ህወሀት በመከላከያውና በደህንነት መስሪያ ቤቱ ያለውን የዘመናት የበላይነት አጥቶ በስልጣን ለአንዲት ቀን መቆየት ይችላል ወይ? የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ምንድን ነው የሚፈልገው? ከሞያሌ እስከ ሁመራ፡ ከጎዴ እስከ አሶሳ የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ እያነሳ ያለው ጥያቄ ምንድን ነው? የለማ መገርሳ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር መሆን የቄሮዎች ምኞት ነውን? የመከላከያ ሰራዊት ዕዞች የአማራ ተወላጆች በኮታ መከፋፈላቸው ለአማራው ፋኖ ምን ሊረባ? የጌታቸው አሰፋ መስሪያ ቤት ለሌላው ኢትዮጵያዊ ክፍት መሆኑ ፋይዳው ምንድ ነው? የአዜብ መስፍን ቃሊቲ መውረድም ሆነ የአባይ ጸሀዬ የቃመውን ስኳር ማስተፋት ለኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ከሚሰጠው የለውጥ እርካታ ጋ ምን አገናኘው?

አዎን! ህወሀት ተደፍሯል። ቆሌው ተገፏል። በገዛ ባሪያዎቹ ክብሩን አጥቷል። ምርጫ የለውም። በመከላከያው ውስጥ የያዘውን የበላይነት መቀነሱ አይቀርም። በደህንነት መስሪያ ቤቱ የሙጥኝ ብሎ የያዛቸውን ቦታዎች መልቀቁ የሚጠበቅ ነው። ጥርቅም አድርጎ የዘጋውን የወልቃይት ጥያቄ ለድርድር ሊያቀርበውም ይችላል። በመሬት ረሃብ ያግበሰበሳቸውን የአማራ መሬቶች ላይ ውይይት ለማድረግ የሚያመነታ አይደለም። የተለያዩ ጥገናዊ ለውጦች ማድረጉ የስብሰባውን መጠናቀቅ ተከትሎ የሚታዩ ይሆናሉ። ቅዝምዝሟ እስክታልፍ ዕብሪቱን ሊተነፍስ፡ ጥጋቡን ሊቆጣጠረው ይሞክራል። ግን ህወሀት መቼም አይታመንም። ህውሀትን ማመን ቀብሮ ነው። ደግሞም እስረኛ ሊፈታ ይችላል። እንደ አይን ብሌን የምንሳሳላቸውን እነ መረራ ጉዲናን፡ እስክንድር ነጋን፡ በቀለ ገርባን፡ ዓንዱዓለም ዓራጌንና ሌሎችንም ሊለቃቸው ይችላል። ምርጫ የለውም። እንደውም የስብሰባው ማጠናቀቂያ ላይ የማጀቢያ እርምጃ ሊያደርገው እንደሚችል መጠርጠሩ አይከፋም።

ህወሀት ቢዳከምም በቀላሉ አይሞትም። ቢደፈርም ቶሎ እጅ አይሰጥም። መርዙን በቀላሉ የሚተፋ ድርጅት አይደለም። ኦህዴዶችንና ብአዴኖችን ” እስከመቃብር አትለዩኝ” የሚለው ልመናው ከአንጀት አይደለም። እነለማ ከስብሰባው አዳራሽ ውስጥ ከሚያቃጭለው የህወሀት የለቅሶና ልመና ድምጽ ይልቅ ከውጭ ለሚስተጋባው፡ ከአድማስ አድማስ በአንድነት ለደመቀው የህዝባቸው የለውጥ ጩሀት ጆሮአቸው ቅርብ መሆን አለበት። የህወሀት ለቅሶ የአዞ ዕምባ ነው። ልመናው ዳገቱን እስኪወጣው ነው።

እነለማ ለህውሀት ለቅሶ ልባቸው ራርቶ፡ ልመናው አንጀታቸውን በሀዘኔታ ሞልቶት፡ ተሰፍሮ በሚሰጣቸው፡ ተለክቶ በሚታደላቸው የመከላከያና የደህንነት ወንበሮች ተማርከው ስብሰባውን በስምምነት የሚያጠናቅቁ ከሆነ ፖለቲካዊ ሞታቸውን እዚያው ከስብሰባው አዳራሽ ውስጥ ጨልጠው ይወጣሉ እንጂ የህዝብ ትግል አይቆምም። በህወሀት ጊዜያዊ እጅ መስጠት ተዘናግተው፡ ከህወሀት ጋር ለመቀጠል ከተስማሙ ”መቃብራቸውም ከህወሀት” ጋር ሆኖ በታሪክ ሲወቀሱ ይኖራሉ እንጂ የቄሮዎችና የፋኖዎች ንቅናቄ ለአፍታም የሚገታ አይሆንም። እነለማ ቀሪ ዘመናቸውን በጀግንነት እየተወደሱ፡ ውለታቸው በሺ እየተመነዘረ እየተከፈላቸው፡ ከትውልድ ትውልድ የሚሻገር ታሪክ ትተው እንዲያልፉ ይጠበቃሉ። ዕድሉ በእጃቸው ነው። ጊዜ የለም። በጣም ረፍዷል።

Ethiopian musical star, Tewodros Kassahun’s (Teddy Afro) official album launch event that was set to be held at the Hilton Addis Hotel today has reportedly been cancelled due to what sources claimed to be “the government securities and the Hotel’s coordinated gate-keeping hindrances”. Other sources claim it was cancelled because of “an alleged disagreement between the event planners and organizing companies.”

The musician’s logistics and team were refused entrance to the Hotel yesterday as they were preparing the Hall.  This event was much anticipated by Teddy Afro’s fans after he was politically refused permit to hold public concerts in Addis Abeba by the city government. Few weeks ago, his permit application to organise a concert at the Millennium Hall for September 10, 2017, has been denied by the officials of the City administration.

Teddy was set to officially launch his fifth musical album that was released in May 2017 and an official video clip of his popular song from the same album Mar Eske Tuaf. Only 1000 invited guests were expected to attend the event, where Teddy was also anticipated to sing.

Teddy Afro is probably the leading Ethiopian musician in terms of album sale, concert attendance and fans at the moment but the artist has also been a victim of systematic government repression and censorship, whose many Ethiopian concerts have been cancelled and had his travel documents confiscated by local immigration and security officers.
