Ethiopia’s PM Hailemairam tells of ”an Ethiopian businessperson owning his own prison in Ethiopia” to scholars

17-3-2016

In a “National Consensus and Renaissance” focused meeting being held with Ethiopian academics in the Prime Minister’s Office, Hailemairam told the participants about an Ethiopian businessman who owns his own prison facility in Ethiopia, in an attempt to respond to an academic who complained about the use of the Anti-Terror, Civil Society and other proclamations being used to stifle any form of dissent.

According to the Addis Abeba based Amharic Reporter Newspaper, ”Do you know that one Ethiopian businessperson has his own prison in Ethiopia? We arrest people like these.”

The PM also answered to similar questions on politics, freedom and history raised by the academics.
